Pico Rivera, Los Angeles County
Pico Rivera was created in 1958, when the neighboring farm towns of Pico and Rivera joined under one government. The first was named for Pio Pico, who served as the final Mexican governor of California and owned a ranch nearby. The Pico Rivera Sports Arena, beside the San Gabriel River, is a leading venue for charreadas, the traditional Mexican rodeo.
